Let me introduce POPvoyage – a spacious and well-thought-out shoulder bag that is both practical, beautiful and incredibly fun to sew! This is the second pattern from birtePOP, and I have been looking forward to sharing it with you for so long.
POPvoyage is the bag that was named Travel bag at the beginning, because it is suitable for absolutely all kinds of trips – plane trips, cafe trips, concerts, forest trips, city trips, training trips and even "trips". It holds everything you need (and then some) without feeling bulky or impractical. It's simply a new best friend that will always be there.
On the outside you'll find a zipper pocket with a super simple construction, but with a clever decorative stitching that gives the feeling that the pocket is folded into the fabric - a little illusion that gives a lot of wow effect! Inside the bag has a divided slip pocket with a decorative edge that both strengthens and beautifies - perfect for showing off fine fabrics, or a small woven label with a nice greeting.
The bag closes with a zipper on the top, and the shoulder strap is sewn into the bag for extra durability and comfort. The strap is adjustable so you can wear it exactly how you want. It is designed to withstand everyday use and all kinds of adventures - whether it's raining on the way to work, or sunny on a Sunday stroll.
POPvoyage can be sewn in almost any fabric, as long as you think about stabilization and what your sewing machine likes to work with. My personal favorite is dry oilskin on the outside and waterproof fabric on the inside – it gives the bag a nice, slightly worn look. shabby chic-a feeling that only gets better and better with time. A bit like a good pair of shoes – only in bag format.
This pattern is not a beginner pattern because it has "binding". The edging inside creates the shape of the bag and makes it stay that way over time....but even though it is not a beginner pattern, that doesn't mean you should steer clear. I will help you along the way with good instructions, pictures, tips and tricks.
